The The Play Lab is now offering environmentally friendly birthday parties. With your support, in the near future our parties will be completely waste free!
Nothing says single-use plastics (one of the largest contributors to global warming) like children’s birthday parties. Did you know that Over 70 million tons of plastic waste will end up in nature this coming year? September 5th, 2024, was “Plastic Overshoot Day,” the day when the world’s production of plastic waste overshot the capacity of waste management’s abilities to handle it.
The Play Lab is the only children’s event space in New York City to host and throw environmentally friendly birthday parties
Sustainability is a value The Play Lab takes very seriously.
As parents, educators, and caretakers of the next generation, we’re concerned with the state of the earth our children are inheriting.
MODELING VALUES IN ACTION: We aspire to be “the change we want to see”
The Play Lab believes in providing a low-stimulation play space that supports children through all stages of their cognitive, physical, and social-emotional development and also using nature-based play structures and green toys to connect them to the natural-world. Our use of non-toxic cleaning supplies, energy-efficient practices, and 90% waste free children’s birthday parties help ensure it will be a safer one too.
A birthday party at The Play Lab now offers recycled or plantbased tableware with a specialized line of beautiful eco friendly party decorations. Even our goody bags and party favors are made out of sustainable materials.
Tips for throwing your own environmentally friendly birthday party
Let us host it for you! The Play Lab’s nature-themed play structure, special indoor tree, climbing wall, and thoughtfully designed space make the perfect setting for your child’s party.
